The Arcadia Marine Blue Actinic promotes welfare of invertebrates.

For a marine aquarium to realistically represent reef life, it is essential to provide the best conditions for corals and invertebrates to thrive. Most important in this is the survival of zooxanthellae, a specific form of algae, which symbiotically assists the invertebrates to feed and remove waste matter. In nature, the sun provides over 100,000 lux (lumen per sq. metre). At depths of typically 5 to 10 metres, where many of the corals and invertebrates are found, the visible light to be seen is basically only in the blue wavebands, thus the familiar blue appearance. All the other wavelengths, particularly reds have been absorbed and filtered out by the salt water. This remaining blue light is the light which invertebrates have evolved to utilise for zooxanthellae symbiosis.

The Arcadia Marine Blue Actinic has been specifically designed to illuminate and enhance the natural Fluorescence that is found among many fish and coral species. It does this by producing light at a spectrum that peaks at 420nm. This is the optimum wavelength to appreciate the natural colours.

The Arcadia Marine Deep Blue is available in 3 different lengths in the newer and more efficient T5 Model. T5 lights offer a better light spectrum meaning your aquarium will be bathed in light closest to those found in natural habitats. They have reduced power consumption but still offer higher luminance than the older T8 model and their compact size means you can more of them to create a beautiful aqua-scape.

The T5 has reduced power consumption due to the improved luminance rating, as it operates at a higher temperature. (This can provide typical energy savings of 30%)
The T5 has a longer lifespan, up to 25% longer+
Reduced mercury levels used in the lamps
